VS heating up to Quickly with smell

Hi my vs has a new radiator and a new waterpump but it seems to be heating up to fast and has a smell to it i have checked the hoses etc and i'm not losing any coolant but i did notice a bolt was missing from where they fit the waterpump on could this be the problem or maybe the thermo?

Get the bolt for it. Check the thermo is kicking in, and why didnt you do the thermostat whilst you were at it?

I think you will find there is no bolt missing. There are a number of locator holes around the pump and sometimes people forget to take the pins off the old pump and put them on the new one.
