hey guys,
Just would like some tips on buying a VS Berlina wagon. im used to having a ford but am now looking at converting and repenting my sins (haha). im not too familiar with holdens but have heard about problems with the v6 engine. what should i look for? Any information will be helpful.
Noisy lifters are a common problem, check to see if there is any coolant leaking from near the water pump and around the timing cover.
Andy
check that the engine isn't missing as fried coil packs and also bad DFI modules are also a problem i have seen alot on here
a v8......
But... if you have your heart set on a V6 then look for a motor that has no signs of being played with or flogged and has impeccable service history as dirty habits mess with the oiling and the cam and pistons suffer greatly.
Coolant leaks are going to be a problem with a motor this age too, if the service history is good then the coolant should be bright green and leaks will show up easily.
Take a torch with you and look at every junction where coolant flows in the motor etc, such as pump to engine, manifold to heads and hose connections.
REVS check its worth doing just incase money owing or right off cheers travis.
Hey hangman...See ya at toranafest.
Do I know you mate? I'll definitely be there anyway, along with the HB.
Only if you having a beer with me.
No wuckers mate, if I run into you![]()
Glad to see someone converting the better side, i myself have lost my older brother to the dark side, and now he owns 2 very shotty BA's for his efforts(these things are crap,un-compfy and always sh!t breaking). Anywho remember VS's are almost 20yrs old now, its hard to find a VS berlina wagon that will be spotless and trouble free,90% will have around 200,000km on the clock as it is. Any car,be it holden or ford will have issues at this age, just from general wear and tear. I always wanted a V8 VS berlina wagon, but had to make do the sedan as they are not easy to find.
