Have the chance to get an VS SS CAI cheap are they worth it or is it better to save up and get a mace CAI.

Get it, if it's cheap enough. No reason why u can't use it until u want to go for the mace cai and sell off the standard one after.

IMHO stick with the vs sc intake unless it's worked to the max, u won't require the mace one.

Try reading the MACE CAI thread, in particular the test conducted by Immortality for a comparison of the two.

    MACE Cold Air Intake

Heat soak appears to be the issue with the Holden CAI set up.

So the mace device is half an air box that allows for air to be pushed to it from the high pressure zone in front of the head light, so it's not a cold air intake as such. The benefit as I can see is less heat soak with the mace because it's not sitting on top of the radiator

30 v 250 no brainer for me imho. Heat soak on the road is nothing, it's only in traffic.
