Check the link pins which go between the stabiliser bar and the front suspension struts. One or both may be be bent, broken, or the rubber washers may have disintegrated.

Ok I did think this to begin with. Checked mine yesterday and it isn’t bent or broken. I may have to tighten the nuts on each end of it tho.
    Could it be anything else?

If it's a big Clunk, then chances are it's something more than just a linkpin.
I'd be having a REALLY good look tomorrow! As it may be something broken, loose or ready to break. Check out struts and mountings/bolts top and bottom, control arm, caliper, basically everything. Also check out the other side while you're there.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'

Mine did it. Only slow turns and a REALLY loud clunk.

It was the top link bushs. The pin pushed through the lower washer.

The standard arrangement is useless. I replaced the bushes, washers and pins with new genuine parts and it lasted 6 months.
The standard bushes are too hard and have no give. I even tried the softer HQ shocker bushes and it still was hopeless.

Go an aftermarket setup and you'll have no more dramas.
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Pedders do a heavy duty swaybar linkage from memory i think is was 60-70-80 or 90 bucks. I've done 3 different vr/vs's with aftermarket linkages. I think the clunk was the top of the linkage slipping on the bottom of the strut or something. The more telltale sign was the washers rattling together over bumps.

It helps a lot to install them carefully. I was running the standard links on a 30mm front 'bar and now the same links on a 27mm 'bar (~50% difference in stiffness) without issue for ~50 000km total and they are still good.

Somewhat of a personal plug: Refer to the "How To's"

I cant remember but the bushes are red and the links are gold anodised so I'll take a guess and say Pedders.

    I thought I did!
I made sure the nuts weren't too tight so as not to crush the bush.

The most important thing is to tighten them with the bushes correctly located i.e. with the links perpendicular to the bar lever arms.
