Hi guys i got a vs v6 just serviced it completely new plugs new leads new oil new filter the whole lot and when the car is in drive and you are at a complete stop it idle really rough i have changed the idle air speed sensor changed the air flow meter dont know what else to look at if anyone has any info on they think it might be it would be appreciated
cheers
If you've ever had the exhaust done/fixed there's a good chance the exhaust rubbers holding it in place are a bit too tight. The exhaust is supposed to move a bit freely as it vibrates a lot and if too tight up against your car your whole car will have idle vibration.
I've got a minor idle vibration in drive and reverse on my vs and I reckon it's that, just couldn't be bothered doing anything about it as it isn't that bad.
I could be wrong though.
Does it idle high or is it normal? Have you checked your o2 sensors?
Did you clean you're throttle body and the TPS? Could be a vacuum leak somewhere, also a possibility of stuffed Engine Mounts. Never heard of exhaust's needing to have a bit of movement in them to stop vibration. Last I heard the exhaust needs to be firm and in place.
If it's not a Symptom its not relevant, and if its not relevant I don't care!
Bad earth to the DFI will cause rough idle and a near stall when shifting from reverse to drive.
VS uses ignition timing as well as IAC to control idle speed.
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
Mine used to idle very roughly when stopped at lights and nearly stall changing from drive to reverse. Afte taking off my inlet manifold I found the gaskets were absolutely rooted so I put new ones in, cleaned it thoughly and the TB and I swear now a house of cards would sit undisturbed on my block. Something to consider perhaps.
