so im just in the early stages of working on my car and gonna use this thread to update my progress and get help when in need.
its a '95 vs exec. and im currently removing the double pinstriping from the sides. one side came off clean took ages though now doing the other side and starting using a hairdryer to warm it up while removing it. made it heaps easier but it's left a residue i cant get off. should i get some cutting compound and some elbow grease?
im also taking the plastic trolley strips off i took some off and wasnt too hard but has left some horrible bits over in the below pic, should i get a razor and gently pick at it while warming it to get the larger pieces off then buff it with cutting compound too?
im also tracking down some wheels the ones in the the mock up are looking like a go at the moment if anyone has any reccomendations love to hear along with a body kit that too looks like itll be a vs clubby one too.
i noticed this the other day too should i be worried, should i do something about it or will it be fine?
another thing too on the drivers side rear quarter panel is this weird paint damage. the only way to describe it is like similar to on old surfboards like real rough and cant be buffed out. i was thinking getting some primer filler spray, sand it down till smooth and get some colour coded paind and go over it, thoughts?(the third pic is the real rough surfboard like damage)
lastly and this would be sometime down the track i wouldnt mind shaving the rear handles but i hear its illegal, have to contact the popo about that one.
and other mods to do are things like new redback exhaust, new diff, and some shocks to lower her.
thanks for reading
Maybe create a thread in the 'My Ride' section to get a better response and also a more appropriate location.
If you've already go the pinstripe tape removed then yes a light cut polish or compound will be fine. Remember to wax afterwards to regain your uv protection.
For the door moulds, check the 'How To' section as this has been well covered before. I think its called something like 'removing door moulds' from memory.
A little hard to tell from the picture, but is the fuel tank just surface rusty? Or is it a little more serious? If its just a light surface rust then its nothing to be overly concerned with. Apart from its appearance, it would be a good idea though to do something about it.
With your paint on the drivers side quarter, my guess is it has been damaged and repaired at some stage and the paint/prep leaves a little to be desired... Possibly a surface contamination under the topcoat or even small air bubbles trapped in any body filler that may be under it. In short, to remove it yes all of the affected area would need to be rubbed back and feathered before respraying.
