So almost every day now my car wont start, i have all ignition lights on, central locking still works, its not the battery as its a brand new 1, not the alternator thats new as well, its not the starter motor for the same reason... so what else could it be ?? it doesnt start then after a few goes it will eventually turn over... when trying and failing it will make all the right noises it just wont turn over.. any ideas are much appreciated ?
Check the battery connections - also try pressing the unlock button on the keyhead whist the key is in the ignition keyhole just prior to turning the key to start. Try starting the car with the gear selector on N instead of P.

if above fails dont trust a new part just because its new,
common fk up the little terminal on the starter motor not pushed on far enough (push it on make sure there tight),
dead cells in a new battery (try to jump it if it starts fine with cables on it new battery might be dodgy)
food for thought ontop of what hako said which fixes? immobiliser roll over signal loss and park nuetral switch cable incorrectly adjusted or bent~!...
simple rules but for your fault if it wont turn over but starter clicks once starter issue or low battery or loose connections in circuit from starter to battery...(mainly)...
So the motor dosent turn over when your turn the key?
This could be a key reader problem, the key reader is a security feature installed from vr onwards. It consists of the programmed electronic key (found inside the remote with a steel button protruding through the plastic case, its programmed to the bcm[body control module]) the key reader ( located around the ignition barrel and feeds the bcm the key signal through metal contacts).
1st check the screws on the remote, if they are loose it can cause problems.
2nd check the steel button on remote touches the contacts on the keyreader through the whole rotation of the ignition barrell , or at least from the ignition on position to the ignition start position.
3rd replace remote and program to bcm
hope this helps![]()
Hako - i have tried pressing the unlock button prior to starting it and it doesnt work, also tried in N and it doesnt work..and battery terminals are fine and connected properly
db_notso - i will try the starter motor terminal tomorrow thanks for that, and it still doesnt start even with a jump start, and i will sus the wiring tomorrow from battery to starter
jayperformance - When i took it to holden the other day then ran a diagnostic test that had something to do with the barrel maybe this is the issue, the bloke said it wasnt but im starting 2 think it is.. i will make sure that the steel button is in contact with key reader the whole way through tomorrow as well
thanks for all the help guys will let u know tomorrow how it goes![]()
If you are hearing the starter relay 'click', then that indicates the immobiliser is off (also red flashing light below radio should be off - if still flashing immobiliser is still on), then that means that power is going to the starter motor but nothing is happening at the starter - possibly due loose connection as db_notso says or a stuck solenoid or a buggered starter motor. An old trick if it is the strter motor is to hit the starter body with a hammer - this can unstick a sticky solenoid.

yeah spot on hako~! the bit you want to tap with a hammer (or golf club once lol) is the smaller round part of the starter motor where the wires are this is a switch mad up of wire a shaft and a large contact
often with rebuilt starter motors they cheap out and dont rreplace the shaft and button(? whatever its called or disk?)
inside the little part of the starter motor, and so the starter motor itself will click but it wont turn the BIG part of the starter, so tapping it a bit often frees the shaft and lets it make full contact with the switch hence turns bigger part. in basic terms anyway...... lol
ok thanks for all the help guys
