    Default can a vs v8 and gearbox be taken out in one peice?

    hey lads, can anyone tell me if i can pull my v8 and 5speed out in one piece out the bonnet? just gunna pull it out for a freshen up, i have pulled it out in two a couple of times but wondering if it will fit out in one??

    You can pull it all out together, this is how I do it most of the time. I'd recommend you get an adjustable engine leveler to make the process a bit easy as you need to tilt the motor a fair way to get the gearbox to clear everything. Also depending on what headers you use, you may need to move the steering rack as with the tight clearances on mine, I can't squeeze the gearbox between the headers and rack.

    they are pacemaker extractors, so it will come out in one piece out of a vs, and do i leave the headers in the bay?

    easier to leave the headers in the bay, and yes they come out in one peice easy, as fusionx said the motor and box need to tilt a fair bit to avoid hitting anything

    Yeah the Drivers side extractors get hung up on all sorts of things.

    Both going in and out.

    Do as they say above and unbolt then in situ and get a mate over to help as it can need some pushing down on the gearbox nose cone if you havnt picked it up right.

    Lift up the back of the car as high as you can, it really helps.
