    Default Code 82!

    Need Help!

I done a diagnostic test the other day and it came up with code 13, so I took the o2 sensor out, cleaned it and put it back in, then I done another check and code 82 came up Code 82 - (1 - 2 Shift Control Solenoid Fault - Auto Transmission Only)

It seems to shift all fine so should i be worried? I think it may be a fluid problem as I don't know if i got the right amount of fluid in, i haven't checked after a 20 minute drive as it says but I've topped it up and it's fine.

Also reset the computer and same code came up.

you can't really clean o2 sensors, just replace them.

Code 82 is set if the solenoid does not give a connection for more than 4 seconds, sometimes this is just a broken clip on the harness and the cable does not stay seated properly to the solenoid, sometimes this is the solenoid slowly dying. Either way you need it checked.

i would change the soloniods cause it will soon either shift harder or it will stay in limp home mode (3rd gear) what happens is the copper wire dislodges and causes this to happen this happened to my vr v8 but mine said code 81 i changed them both went well then woulndnt sellect reverse which no code came up so then stripped it down and rebuilt it $400 later for the rebuild kit worth it though instead of paying some 1 $1500 or more for them to rebuid.

Do you know of anywhere specific I could look for a loose connection?

on the solenoid itself, you'l have to drop the pan, if you have a look in the howto section i did a pdf on auto trans servicing tips, it has a diagram of the components once the pan is off.

Would that be the most likely possibility?

Also could it be lack of fluid?
