ok my 93 vr central locking isnt working after i bought the car so im trying to get it to work i just bought a new drivers side mechanism the one with the green lug. It locks by hand but one door at a time. You can here the thing trying to work but no response if i do it by hand by grabbing the green lug and pushing up and down you can here it work but the doors dont do anything but when i push it down the drivers side door goes nuts up and down really fast then stops after a few seconds any answers would be great.
but tomorrow im taking all door trims off and checking to see if there is a bad earth or a connection is off.
Is there a box that sends the msg to the doors where would i find it so i can check that out.![]()
kinda hard to understand what your saying. however...
confused by a green lug.
by hand do you mean with a key? as in put the key in and turn to lock or what?
it could be something as simple as a broken wire (copper not sheath)
could be the actuator.
and it all goes back to the BCM, however i know nothing to do with this item.
okay i have taken off all doors trims and had a look at the actuators on all four doors, two were broken so i have replaced them. Then i connected them then tried that, They lock for 1/2 a second then pop up again the key works the same way when i push the button but sometimes then the key wont work at all so im coming to the conclusion that the bcm or body control module as they call it, has had the dick.so my next question is that if i change my BCM do i need to change the key as well? cause if i change it will the car still start without the key being changed to suit the BCM.
I believe if you change the bcm for a second hand one you need to get the key to match it, or if you buy a new one you'll have to buy a new key and have the key programmed to it.
