Hi all, got abit of a drama going on thats confusing the hell out of me so far --
replaced the inlet manifold gaskets yesterday as mine where buggered ( using the Mace engineering aluminium gaskets ) everything was fine before that, but knew i needed to flush the radiator ( as in most cases broken inlet manifold leads to oil in the radiator as mine has ), so today i drove the car down the end of my driveway to do a flush, for some unknown reason i checked the oil and it was for a better word f**ked, light brown goo would better describe it lol, now,
could this be a result of a inlet gasket not sitting/sealing right? as said in the manual it only needs 4 dollops of gasket goo in the corners and have confirmed this with a few people
can this be an extremely good ( or rather bad ) timing and iv done a head gasket?
again could this be a good/bad timing and the radiator flush i put in yesterday has cleared away something that was blocking a hole in either a head gasket or a water jacket?
im about ready to give up on this car completely and am at the limits of my wits end, can someone please help, here are some pics first 2 are of the new gaskets iv just taken out, by the looks it looks like it isnt sealing the water in
Old Gaskets:

so when you put the new ones on they were all flush, they your torqued the inlet manifold bolts down in the correct sequence?
make sure you also change the front and back gaskets that you should have got with the mace gasket kit.
yup front and rear gasket where replaced to, from what i could see they where sitting all flush, would an unsealed gasket cause this?
I always thought the aluminium gaskets are for ecotec only...
Did you remember to drain the oil afterwards and go over the bolts twice?
had a chat to a few mates about it, few came over to have a look, cant tell if there any damage to the motor itself ( going to flush with oil a few times and see what happens ) but we have come to the conclusion of a few things
1. 8 of manifold bolts are stretched ( proberbly why doing them up to the torque setting did squat )
2. going off this pic ( see below ) it looks like the water section was not sealing properly ( due to staining outside the water area )
so next weekend im going to plaster the f**kers in gasket goo, reinstall them, let them set for a few hours, new manifold bolts and done up to correct torque setting, let sit over night, flush with oil, re-fill, and hope for the best, if not ill be ditching the motor and car for a cheap VS ( $500 or near abouts ) switch over my new suspension, brakes, exhaust and extractors, calais interior and anything else the new VS needs to make a good car and just drive around until the HJ62 arrives lol

Yuk! Is there a pin hole somewhere in your inlet manifold that could let water into the valley under the inlet manifold? Maybe a pressure test and detergent...
Sorry to see this mate.
I did this to a VR and lucky had no drama, i did not even do the 4 spots of gasket goo as holden said to me its not needed.
Did you clean all the surfaces etc very well ?
Did your torque them up from middle in a diagonal pattern ?
I used GM Gaskets though as i thought they lasted 200k thats pretty good.
Are the new gaskets warped at all ? and are they seated in the locating lugs ?
Not saying you did anything wrong just mentioning little things just incase![]()
