Hey Guys and Girls,
I'm seriously considering buying a pair of SAAS GT seats for my VR sedan.
Just wondering if anyone has any opinions on them, and more importantly, how do I mount them? Do I purchase the adaptor, and/or the rails? Will they then bolt straight in and still be legal?
Thanks

...Bump...
No one knows anything?
U can use the original rails from ur vr, and mount ur new seat on it, or purchase the adapter rails/plate. U cannot modify the mount points.
Ok, thanks heaps mate.U can use the original rails from ur vr, and mount ur new seat on it, or purchase the adapter rails/plate. U cannot modify the mount points.
So do I just need two of these?

I'm not sure how the second link mounts in ther, it looks like it's for the base of the seat. The top link is the slider which but only looks like the slider with nothing else.
I'm a little confused sorry mate, Im sure someone has used these and will chime in. If I did this I would use the current rails.
Yeah I'm a bit confused too lol. Hopefully someone else has some experience, and yeah I want to use the current rails too if possible. I sent autopartshop an email and this is the reply I received:
"Thank you for your enquiry. Unfortunately SAAS don't have the seat adaptors yet. They are on order, but haven't arrived and apparently could be 3 months or so away. The best option we have found is to purchase the seats and new sliders, and then have an engineering firm either modify your existing seat mounts or a second set obtained from a wreckers or similar to suit the sliders.
An engineering firm is needed to ensure ADR regulations, insurance issues etc are all covered. I hope that explains it best, of course the alternative if you are not in a hurry, is to wait until SAAS have their mounts available."
So that clears that up. Thinking I might buy the seats now, since they are on sale and have free postage until 30 September I think it was, then wait until the sliders come out and use them.
Hey mate. I used to have some racing seats in my old VR wagon. Just used the original rails, but got my uncle to make up some steel S brackets as the holes didn't line up. Wasn't too difficult.
Thanks for that. I think I might buy the seats now, since they have free postage and are on sale atm, and put the adaptors on order. Just saves mucking around with rails since they will bolt straight in and I won't need an engi to sign off on it.Hey mate. I used to have some racing seats in my old VR wagon. I have Tenzo Racing seats in my VS....I went to the wreckers and got a set of rails and welded them up.
I kept the original seats/rails in case I ever need to go over the pits
Hm ok thanks, I'll investigate doing this since I got another email today from autopartshop saying the adaptors could actually be 6 months or more away.I have Tenzo Racing seats in my VS....I went to the wreckers and got a set of rails and welded them up.

saas seats are adr compliant, so its only the mounts/runners that need to be adr approved, but honestly if you get pulled and the seats are solidly mounted and no cheap bolts used , it shouldnt be a hassle, but check with the traffic authority if you want to put in a full harness..
I'm keen on a pair of SAAS GT seats still, but wondering how to get around the engineering problem associated with making my own adaptor, and the fact that nobody has any adaptors for those seats.
Does anyone know if any other brands of seat adaptors can be used with SAAS seats? Autotechnica for example.
Do all aftermarket seats have the same base dimensions?
And finally, just how likely is it to be a problem if I get pulled over with these seats fitted and they aren't engineered? What are the consequences?
Thanks heaps for any help![]()
Probably score yourself a yellow sticker for the windscreen id imagine, could fine you for driving an unroadworthy vehicle too i suppose.
Hey mate, I have Monza Type R seats in my ute.
Autotecnia makes adaptor plates for these seats so you can use the exisiting seat rails on the floor and the sliders on the stock seats.
It's simple as removing the factory seats, removing the stock sliders from the factory seats, putting the adaptor plate and stock sliders onto the aftermarket seats then putting the aftermarket seats in.
Took me a good afternoont to do.
But be warned, the factory seat sliders are a biaaaatch to get off, factory lock tight makes it so very easy to strip the alen key head, I ended up going to the wreckers and buying a set of sliders so I didn't have to go through the hassle of stripping heads.
Maybe look into this brand of seat considering it already has the plates in production?
YES, i remember my VP utes ones were like this, i got very upset trying to get them out!!
That reminds me, if you want some sliders for some trial fitments ect, ive still got the VP seats which i would assume have to same sliders as a vr. Your welcome to them as they are just sitting round doing nothing.
I got pulled over by cops on night in my vl, scored a canary for the race seat that previous owner installed. All the cop did was rock the seat a bit and defected it.
Like loopie said make sure its solidly mounted and you shouldn't have a problem if plod gets nosey. Good luck
When in doubt, use FORCE
Thanks for all the help guys. If I do fit them they will definitely be properly and solidly mounted.
Thanks for the offer on the rails Ben, I was planning on buying the sliders that pair up to the seats then just making the bracket from them to the floor as it seems the easier way to go.
Quite tempted to just do that and keep the ADR certificate of the seats in the glovebox, and yes I know that won't cover it but if they see that, and see the seats are solidly mounted with new rails they might just think it's the adaptor or be satisfied. Worse comes to worse I can swap them back to standard or buy the adaptor when it comes out I guess.
I've made it all the way through my red P's and greens so far without being pulled over once...could play out in my favour.
