long story short my engines got a doggy knock up in the valve train and the mechanic reackons ive dammaged the cam but wont know till he pulls the manafold off tommrow. (i dont got time due to work)
basicaly i can get the parts easily but if i gotta get a new cam im judging weather or not to go standand crows cam for 300 or a slighty mild cam and performance chip for $770 (they reackon they got 180kw from the cam + chip +exaust set up)
then if the lifters are on their way out i can get a crows set for $220 then a timing chain for $120 from crows again.
im trying to keep the down time miminal as its killing me with work without a car so i will be getting the mechanic (mates rates =D) to do it as i dont got time to muck around.
but i got 3 questions:
1. anyone used the crane cam and chip combo (stage 2) parnt number is CCKVSA62? thoughts?
2. it suggests to have a aftermarket exaust i got a cat back is it sufficient? crows didnt way weather or not cause they tested it with full exaust.
3. i got 197000km on the clock so wat other parts in the valvetrain would be starting to head on their way out
will let yous know how i go on
mitch
Buy a second hand engine and install it = problem solved.
Regarding question 2: No a cat back wont be enough.

yea thought of that and its still on the card but it will cost me 1000 bucks +motor but my main concern is picking up an engine thats fked or burns oil
other than my current valvetrain problem the engine is great with no buning of oil fuel is good so im trying to same it at the moment so for a few extra bucks i will
thanks for the answer. hows a cat back exaust fall short of the exaust needed?
$170 for new lifters. $126 for valley up gaskets. Plus oil, plus coolent. At a wild guess they want extractors as they prob advanced the timing. This be my 2cents.

A cat back exhaust is only 1 part of a 3 part system, when they say you'll need a good flowing exhaust they usually mean headers, cats, and exhaust.

cool thanks for ure commonts but problem fixed =D
wasnt a majior problem in the end which was good.
the problem was that one of the lifters had a blockage in the oil port and dried up causing itself to clatter and sound shit. when the blockage unblocked it refilled with oil and became fine. so all good thanks for your input anyways
