Hey everyone,
Just wondering how many adjustments would be needed to fit a VE 6 cylinder and manual transmission into my 6 cylinder VS?
Also how many adjustments to get a VE dash and centre console into my VS?
Cheers
Chris
That would be a heck load of work, especially aligning the dash, you might have to change the fuel pump/lines but I'm not too sure and an engineers certificate for having a newer model engine in an older model car.
Basics would be to have the loom for the dash and engine mounts since they're probably different too.
Edit: I've seen something similar done with a LS2 V8 from a VE into a VS, here's the thread on ls1.com.au here. He even went far enough to get the tail lights in![]()

yeah im not even sure if the cars are similar width because obviously the dash would change to suit.
for the engine would it still fit with the drive shaft and etc?
would all the VEs engine stuff eg air box and radiator etc fit in the engine bay?
if you've got the coin and patience anything is possible man
thats true...not very good with patience haha and atm not very well of with spare change either but i see it as a long term goal haha
You should just drop a Gen 3 V8 in it for about $8k+ installed I think, wouldn't worry about the dash unless you wanna put a level 3 Calais dash in it.
It's what I've got planned for my VS in the future :P
Not sure about the dash as the cars are very different widths (would look good IMO)
As for the engine it should fit fine as the VE's had slightly smaller engine bays to previous models if I remember correctly.
Getting it all to work will be the $$ I would say at least $10k to get it all done as not many will be experienced in this as its not a common request.
You could do an 304/LS1 conversion with plenty of coin to spare for FI or more interior mods. that would be a much better option than transplanting a V6 into a car that already has a 6
With a lot of engineering and probably 15-20k sure you could probably transplant everything (including the interior) of a VE but its not going to be easy (and for $20k I would much rather get a Series I V8 VE)
Take a look on SC at Project XXX, Its a VP with a Twin turbo alloytec
really that expensive wow
i thought it would be similar to just replacing an engine price wise with just more effort to make everything perfect
wish i could get a v8
anyone know whats involved?
what about vz engine or interior?
