    Default Rear bearing noise?

    Hi guys!

Lately I've noticed a noise comming from the back end of my VR commodore (live axle), sounding very similar to the front end noise when my front bearings needed replacing. It sounds like a low pulsation (like I said, similar to the front bearing noise, but the noise does not change when I change the steering direction). I hear it at slow speed, maybe around 40km/hr and less. Its especially evident when braking at low speed, and I even can feel the pulsation comming though my brake pedal. I guess that it could also be a warped brake disk, but I changed them all about 18 months ago. My car has 300k on the clock. Any ideas?

Check the uni joints, especially the rear one. A bad uni will make a whirring noise before failing completely.

If the noise does not change when the wheel is loaded and unloaded its normally not a wheel bearing. Also wheel bearing noise gets worse with speed. Since the noise gets worse with brakes indicates noisy tyres, check the condition of your tyres even if you rotate them you should find your noise goes to the front.
