    Default black ball behind front bar is it needed ?

    hit a kangaroo the other night i seemed to get out of it with a broken head light bent number plate and a strange black ball look a like thing hanging down from under my bumber the brackets for it were snapped so i just pulled the rubber hose out of it and put a screw in it car still seems to run fine with out it so is there any need to replace it or anybody know what it is or does cheers heaps

    that im pretty sure is the vacuum reserve tank which is used to operate the heater controls, do you need it? no i dont think so, i think it is more of a backup system if the main vacuum line fails but dont quote me on this, some one else is sure to have the right answer

    lol cheers mate it did let out a hissing noise when i pulled the hose off it but after you said that since its been off every time i start the car the aircon relieves pressure or something so you could be right

    You really need to replace the ball - if not you will not be able to change direction of your heater/aircon vents. Unless you seal the vacuum lines you will be upsetting the fuel/air mix in the engine. The car can also be defected as you cannot operate the demister with no control over the switch.
