Alright...
Whats involved in servicing a supercharger?
Whats involved in resealing the main gasket manifold?
Can i increase the psi slightly in my car without changing anything in my car and not ruining my engine in the long run?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Simple talk, I'm no mechanic =D
i'm guessing it is a stock supercharged V6.
servicing the supercharger involves little more than replacing the oil in the snout. you can go one step futher and replace the coupler inside the snout, but if it's not noisy I wouldn't bother.
you can go to a 87mm or '10psi' pulley without changing anything else, but as with everything, if you modify it, it will wear quicker.
if by main gasket manifold you mean the 'lower intake manifold' gaskets - the ones that commonly leak in Holden V6's - then basically you remove the supercharger, alternator and other bits and pieces from the top of the engine, pull off the LIM and replace gaskets. A service manual would come in very handy here.
thanks, also whats involved in going up on psi? like if i wanted an extra 3 psi would it make much difference and what would it involve? sorry if my questions sound stupidly simple lol
Yep its a stock Supercharged 6
its at the mechanics atm and it will get started on monday i think
To up the PSI a bit, a smaller pulley is press fitted onto the shaft of the snout (obviously the old one is pulled first).
After this you will notice a very small improvement in low end torque and a bit more noise, both induction whine and rattle from the straight cut gears in the snout.
