Just wanted to kno how you guys would sugest to go about this? I have bought some heat proof paint from autobarn. Now with putting it on I was thinking of just taking the weel off and covering everything besides the calipers in gladwrap or newspaper, would that work fine? somepeople say you have to take them off to paint?
There is a few posts about this already, mate...... but basically, yea..clean all the rust & dirt off properly...wire brush on drill is goood.com......white paper tape is the go...takes ages to tape everything for a few seconds spraying, but welll worth it........color coded cars look wicked.....![]()
There's 2 schools of thought on this. One reason why calipers are not painted is that the surface of the bare casting is more efficient at getting rid of heat than a painted surface.
Don't tell me, I know that calipers like Brembo and Porsche are painted but they are in a totally different performance league. Commodore brakes are puny in comparison and if you expect your brakes to do any hard work I'd be taking every performance advantage I can get no matter how slight.
But if you just want the looks and are not into sporty driving or towing etc, better to remove the caliper to do the job anyway. be sure you mask up the inside and don't paint the contact patch of pad to caliper and caliper to strut
