Default Anyone using a thermo fans on VG-VS V8 Utes?

I've got a 1997 VS ute that is having the front rebuilt as it had a hit in the front (destroyed the rad, fan and cowl) and was thinking about putting a single thermo on it. So is anyone using a thermo fan on VG-VS V8 Utes? If so what size are you using and do you have any problems with over heating, power supply or issues not using a radiator cowl?
    Cheers for any help Pat.

From MY experience the stock fan is better then thermo. However if you do go down that route, it has been done, you will need a fan, a thermo control switch ( i think its called that, roughly $100 i think in kit form from jaycar) and some rewiring.

Dont know if its much help but i thought i might share my info.

Also if you have a spare $200, get a mace CAI instead of piping

I don't want to get a clutch fan and cowl as the second hand ones are just as much as a thermo. Thanks Pat.

    Thats fair enough mate.

From what a mate just said, you can use the VT twin thermo or a 16" from a VN and it will fit in.
As for the fan kit, you can get away with doing it with the kit "KG9140" from jaycar. Im sure theres other ways to do it.

put ford AU twin thermos in it mate, a single thermo won't do jack shit and the VT twins will need major modification to fit,
if its auto you might need to run an external cooler with twin thermo's

Twin AU thermos will cool a 304 sufficiently. I've been down the single thermo path and had nothing but dramas.
