vn series 2 through to vt are all interchangeable
    as is the dfi module
summer time it's my money maker in my area, the amount of cars with crook coils, dfi modules and crank angle sensors that break down at the shops near my home are prime pickings for me to do on the spot repairs for a quick $$$$

it's a bit hit and miss buying 2nd hand coils and dfi modules off ebay but they're cheap 2nd hand.

Ive seen a couple of these coils test ok on the multimeter, but were still buggered and caused misfiring etc. It could also be a faulty DFI module causing this.. Ive also found the genuine coils are way better and will last longer than the cheapie ones. Genuine coils also run noticably better than the cheaper aftermarket coils. Theres enough of a difference between the cheap and the genuine coils performances to effect the fuel consumption, effect how the engine starts, and effect how smooth the engine runs etc. The genuine coils are fairly expensive compared to the aftermarket ones available on ebay etc, but the thing is the money you think you have saved, by purchasing the cheaper coils, would be lost over time anyway in the extra fuel costs the cheap coils give, and could probably even end up costing you more money in the long run. Ive also seen some cheaper coils last 1 or 2 years, Ive never seen a genuine one fail from new this quick ,although Im sure there would have to be some instances of new genuine coils failing, but I reckon it would be pretty rare, Ive havent come across one yet anyway..
One last thing is seeing how the multimeter doesnt always show up a buggered coil , if you do a fair bit of work on these cars for mates or whoever, then Ive found its best to keep a spare new coil in your tool kit, just for testing purposes, so if a coil is suspect on a car, you can remove the old ones, one at a time, and fit the new coil, then drive it each time to see if theres any difference in how the engine runs, you will notice it straight away if one of the old coils is was not running/firing properly.

Just a Note, I found the DFI modules are not compatible between a VR & a VS.
My Father inlaw had a VS that was missing quite badly, He had a wrecked VR in his yard (was running fine until someone rear ended it) but i told him just to swap the coil packs and DFI module, Started the Car, ran fine, But engine light was on, Car drove fine until he stopped then it just stalled every time you stopped. Swapped just the coils packs and was gold from there.

As to the Ops question just buy a replacement New. Dont risk used parts

Thanks for the info, I found out it was the DFI module that was faulty, very much appreciated.
