problems with vr v6 bcm

Hi all, on the weekend i tried to change the bcm in my vr to a vs bcm with 2 good keys ans the vr only has one key and the buttons dont work anyway. I changed the bcm and keyhead over and tryed to start the car and all it did was turn over, it wouldnt fire? So i changed the bcm back to the oridginal and key aswell and now when i turn the key it dosent even turn the reds on now? Before i installed it i checked to see if they were the same and they are both mid ranges, i also did the diagnostics with the new key in and it was coming up with code 31 Theft Deterrent Signal missing? If anyone has any info it would be much appreciated.

VR and VS BCMs are not interchangeable.

thanks but i was wondering if anyone knew why the old one is no longer working? Or if anyone can fix it?

Check all the fuses related to the engine and fusible links if VRs have them. Did you disconnect the battery when changing BCMs?

yeh i think i left the battery connected, stupid apprentice mistake. any idea what that could mean?
