6HDD compatable with 7HDD??

just wanting to know if the trans 6HDD is compatable with the 7HDD..

I found this info while searching:

VS 1996 - 6HDD/V6 - 6HBD/V8 the design of the previously added solenoid was changed and is not backwards compatible with the previous model.
VS II 1997-7HDD/V6 - 7HBD/V8 basically the same as the 1996 unit except the thread size of the cooler pipe unions was enlarged.

can anyone with experience confirm that I just need to change the cooler pipe unions and it will work with no issues?

Well when you look at it you only find, for example, swaping a 6hdd for a 7hdd. So going newer, no so much swaping a 7hdd for a 6hdd, down grading.
I do believe you can go down from a 7hdd to a 6hdd. As i can not see any difference, if any, it would be with the solenoids.

if this helps the 7HDD is replacing the 6HDD.

Something that has not been mentioned: the VT came out in 1997 so I'd presume the 4L60E in a '97 VT would be 7HDD - same as a '97 VS...and the VT had a separate bellhousing (VS was integral) which mean't that a piece of the bellhousing had to be ground away to make way for the exhaust when fitting to VS. But I'm sure the OP is aware of this.

that would be the VT series 1. Series 2 had a 8/9HFD.
