hey guys,
I was driving along the other day, turned left around a corner at about 40-50
(not fast because it was like a vear off from a 70 road) anyway, i heard a bit of
a grinding noise in the left front wheel, but it only does it at say 20km/h around
a corner, it doesnt do it if i stop and turn, say at traffic lights, or when i go slower
than 20.
Lately this noise has turned into a bit of a rattle, which sounds like the spring rattling
a bit, seems strange, but on the odd occasion this grinding occurs again.
I took dad and my brother in law in the car for them to listen and they said its only because
i lowered the car and thats just what happens, also because my wheel has a slight buckle
they are only temporary wheels because i damaged 2.
Does anyone have any knowledge on this or any theory as what it could be
i dont want to go to a mechanic and be charged say $120 too put it on a hoist, look at it
and tell me its f$@$ed, if any of the jc guys/gals have an idea :P
(you guys seem smarter anyway)
Thanks in advance,
Corey.
could be wheel bearings ,id be jacking it up if i was you to check everything else is tight and nothing broken under there if i was you..
another thing id check is the swaybar link pin they have a habit of punching straight through the washer which the bush sits on ,at least my vr ones did twice..
cheers mate, will jack her up tomorrow and have a look and a bit of a tighten on
everything around that area, as well as check for anything broken, although it sounds
ALOT like its the spring rattling just a little bit, how much damage can be caused
if i left it for a month or so?? everyone i have asked that knows anything about cars told me
that it wont damage anything and its just a noise that will piss me off. Being a P-plater, i have
my music turned up so if its only a noise that will annoy me i will leave it for a month till i acquire
funds to take it to the mechanic, after checking said things
in that case id be checking the strut top nuts they might be loose also if you cut your springs to lower it they can easily dislodge out of their proper positions so check your spring is seated correctly.
well ended up at school longer then expected, so no time to look at her D: hahahaha i like
how when i say p plater you think cut springs :P nah they are legit pedders sports rider
or something ones ahaha but i sill check the spring bump stop thing and tighten the nuts up
yep cheap prick, because im currently doing my hsc certificate and cant work many hours
so because of this your gunna be an absolute prick and try all that bs about "cant afford
to maintain it cant afford to own it" well geeet f#%ed considering its just had new steering rack
and ps pump, new muffler etc. but yano i cant afford to do one simple thing at the moment
due to a school matter and suddenly i cant afford to own it. people like YOU are the reason we
young people drive around in unroadworthy and dangerous cars, because we ask for some help and
you say this shit.
On a happy note, thanks sooo much bogan_vk, it did end up being 1 nut loose in the top of the strut,
tightened it up and she is back to being quiet![]()

My cars are inspected every 6 months by a qualified mechanic, under this great system we call 'Warrant of Fitness'.
You said, in your first post, that you didnt want to take it to a mechanic because he might tell you it was unsafe.
Whos the one with the problem now mate?

i didnt say him to say unsafe? i meant
him to inspect it, charge me $120 when it
could have only been a $10 job to fix. turns out
it was a only a few bolts needing tightening, but
im sure a mechanic would have got the inspection
fee thing, then found a few more things that needed
to be "fixed" sorry for that last outburst though, having
a bad day, didnt mean for it like that, thanks for your input though
