Default vibration after replacing engine mounts..?

    Hi everyone,

I just replaced my engine mounts on a v6 vs calais. Replaced both the driver and passenger side mounts with genuine Holden ones.

Now the car has a slight vibration in first gear just before it changes to second.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is? the vibration wasn't there with the old mounts.

    Cheers in advance

yeah consider this, lets say the engine mounts were screwed - motor was sitting down a bit lower than it should. trans mount is the same age, similar story.

engine mounts replaced, trans mount stays old = weird angle? could be causing your vibration.

changing the trans mount if you haven't done so.

I didn't change the trans mount yet. It might be this like you say.

Before I do go ahead and change it, does anyone else have any ideas???

Do you think I could have stuffed something in the box, or uni's while jacking up the motor?? I didn't go too far.. just enough to pull the mounts out

Yes, if the mount is lose or worn, it will cause the problem you have.
Plus you will notice it even more going up a steep hill.

Jacking the motor up won't stuff any drive shaft components. +1 for trans mount.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'

Try resettling the mounts and the exhaust , loose off the engine mounts and trans mount and exhaust pipes , start the engine with your foot on the brake and the hand brake applied shift the auto from park to rev to drive afew times then switch off the engine and re tighten the mounts and exhaust. recommend doing this on a hoist or on the ground where the wheels are in contact with the ground , not while supported by jack stands as a chance of vehicle falling is high if not done correctly raise and lower the vehicle to loosen and tighten the mounts and exhaust
