Ok when doing a coolant flush I took my thermostat housing off and one of the bolts snapped when undoing it. I e tried easy out and they kept snapping and pretty much the thread is completey ruined. What know? Looks like it's apart of the intake manifold? Is there a way I can get around this? I have put a screw in there but it is leaking and loosing coolant.
Cheers
Just realized you can't upload pics on iphones
U can with tapa talk app, and I had the same thing on my mates vr Buick, ended up drilling it out re tapping it and new bolt, all sweet
Depending how close you are to a wrecker you could save the rooting around of retapping and get a second hand inlet manifold, that way you can can change the gaskets too which prob wouldn't hurt and have peice of mind that all is ok...

I need some statesman/ calais woodgrain for drivers side panel!!
Yeh I was thinking about buying a new manifold. How hard are these tap and die sets to use?
Pretty easy. Or if you dont have a tap, you may be able to get away with helicoils. Need someone else to either confirm or deny this claim tho.
VR and VS error codes:

VS V6 DTC/Error codes comprehensive list.
You will need to drill and tap the hole first before using a helicoil , best to drill the broken bolt out and remove the broken stud completely , if you arnt confident in doing this job then give the thread doctor a call and he will come out and do the job for you for a price
if you wish to repair by helicoil, you first need the kit as the thread insert usually has an odd type of thread and therefore a purpose built tap.
but if you follow all the instructions that are on the box you will end up with your original thread size in the hole and generally a stronger thread than what you started with.
