Hi all, I've had my VR 5.0l ute now for about 3 weeks, I've not used it really since I bought it, I noticed it had a petrol smell inside the cabin when I bought it, the dealer told me it was just due to me perhaps overfilling it. It's now not gone away, and seems to be worst under hard acceleration. Someone said it could be the fuel filter??? If it helps, it seems to be worse when the window is down???
I drove it 160km to our crib and had a rather sore head when I got out!
Cheers.
Yeah this has been covered more times the a hooker takes of her undies.
But in short, you will have to take the screws out of the hatch in the back of your tray and it will expose your fuel tank. I can bet everything I own that one of the breather hoses has cracked or fallen off completely.
In my case the breather fitting from my tank that the hose connects to was broken so you might just need to sickaflex it up?
But I have also read on here that some people have discovered that the tanks have a crack in the seam...
Good luck
Agreed with 304runner, it will be one of the breather lines.
If it's not a Symptom its not relevant, and if its not relevant I don't care!
fuel cap?
my vy got a petrol smell sometimes, swapped the one off my vr and the smell went away.
well for the vy anyway,vr started to smell of petrol then...
Also check the fuel lines just behind the motor, one of mine was found to be cracked about 12 months ago,was very lucky it didnt leak onto the dizzy. I looked and looked but found jack sh!t,took it to the mechanic and he knew the first place to look and i was gone in 10min without the worry of getting high from huffin petty everywhere i drive
