VS power steering rebuild or buy second hand

i have a VS with normal loud/wrecked power steer pump, Also the fluid in the reservoir is black, I was just wondering how hard it is to rebuild the pump? do I need any special tools? any info would help, I have found a seal kit here in new zealand for $47.

I believe according to the manual... (i have a gregories) ... you CAN rebuild a PS pump.

If you have the tools, and the parts, it's totally posible.

BUT!!! A loud/wrecked whining sound with blackened fluid indicates the internals are stuffed... not the seals. If you had stuffed seals... it would be leaking.

Research the cost of a replacement pump (reco or otherwise) and what the cost of the internal parts are... then re-assess your standing.

ok cool, i was wondering why fluid was black, maybe a second hand one is the go. here in nz i can get a rebuilt unit for $165 nzd. Does VT power steer pump fit VS?
