Can the k's be changed on a lvl 3 cluster

Im looking at buying another speedo cluster and just wondering if I can change the km reading so i can make it the same as mine.

Simple Answer: Yes.
Long Answer: I think you need a computer to plug into it and change the ODO's...

Note: I also think there's legal issue involved here too with changing cluster ODO readings...

So i'll maybe i could take it to holden, I was hoping not to as they will charge me a small fortune. Im pretty sure lowering the k's on the ODO is illegal but i want to increase them,which im not sure about any legal issue. The cluster im looking at has about 75,000km's less then mine but i dont mine having high k's.

The L3 clusters can be change using the VDO tool designed for them. Holden probably wont change the KMs for you tho so you would need to go to an VDO place that has one. Or you can find a L3 cluster with the correct KMS on the trip computer and swap it over with the low k unit.

Holden wont be able to do it , but yes they can be changed illegally

It can be changed easy as. You will need your current cluster, still installed in the car, and the level 3. Find someone that does it in your area, closest to me would be, well me. The itll cost you about $150, depends what they charge tho. Then done.

The1 can also do it as well from memory I think he needs both your old and new clusters to do it - he is in Tamworth if that is closer than SEQ4X4

Yes true - but I think he (verynice) is talking about changing the trip computer from 1 L3 to another L3.

yes L3 to L3, assuming your berlina has L3 cluster? or did they have L2...

Berlina should have a L3. So if he is doing L3 to L3, just change the trip computer as stated above.

Im (hopefully) changing from my normal level 3 cluster to a HSV item,I will look up The1 as Tamworth is only 1.5hrs away.

if you still have an issue mate, when u find a cluster that u want, u can mail it to me and i can set the km's correct for you ($120 dollars + freight back and forth). e Vic 3175 Dandenong

Friend of mine wanted to wind ks onto a BMW cluster to match the car. He rigged up a flasher circuit on the speedo cable from the diff that wound the speedo around to about 120 and forgot about it for a week or so.

Not sure how Holdens get the speed signal.

Edit: to wind on 75k you'd want it going at least 200 or it would take too long

you can do it legally i rang holden and they have a mob in Carrington NSW that do it but they will only change it to your last PINK OR BLUE slip...

I could get the name if really need be..
