    Default inlet gaskets

Ok to start off i have done a bit of research and havent found what i need yet.
I am pulling off my power steering pump to repair and changing thermostat+gasket and a radiator hose, i was also thinking about pulling off my entire intake system for a good clean up, i want to pull off the inlet manifold but i am unsure about reusing the current gaskets... At the moment there isn't any leaking from it i have noticed a small amount of oil in the water but unsure if it is directly related.

So i guess my main question is can i use current inlet gaskets or is it best to replace with new ones even if there is no leaking at the moment?

    any help is much appreciated

for the small cost of getting new inlet gaskets it far outways the hassle of doing it to only find your old gaskets now leak
The original ones will be stuffed anyway so just get some new ones and be done with it

Definitely use new gaskets, they are probably screwed anyway. Permaseal do a gasket pack with throttle body, thermostat and inlet manifold gaskets from memory.

Get the new gaskets. Retail from repco is $126. Be sure to have your engine number. You will also need to change the oil and coolent when doing this. So you may as well get an oil filter too. You will also need abit of sealant for where the gaskets meet in the corners.

Get new ones. Pulling the inlet off will stuff ya old gaskets. They are most likely stuffed anyways.

Do you have a GM part number for the kit?

another quick question guys, my motor is out of a VT (previous owner did the conversion) and i was wondering what the difference between the intakes on the VS engines and VT engines are, as i am unsure if the motor has had the VS inlet manifold put on it???

Tell them you have a vt engine. I think the inlets are different.

I think they are different. Slightly. Not overly sure.

I have a VT bottom end with a VS intake on it. I used the VS manifold gasket kit. No leaks as of yet, only did it saturday. What i saw, the VS and VT gaskets were the same when changing over intakes. But have your engine/VIN anyways as they will ask you that. Also when you get your recipt can you please tell me the GM number. Im currently compiling all the GM numbers for a VS into a list. Cheers mate.

Speaking of those hose connectors, if they are the same as on my VR they will be plastic and will fall to pieces as soon as you touch them. I found it was definitely worthwhile to replace them, just got a pair with o-rings from Holden.

You can get away with not taking the bottom hose attachment off. Just loosen the bolts then slide the one marked out. Iv marked which one im talking about. Its the hose connector as marked and the oring sits on that and seals under the thermostat housing.
