hey guys, just curious to know where everyones
temp guage sits at on a warm (28 degree) day??
my guage usually sits at like a quarter, but that was
in winter, most peoples i know run at half, and today
mine got to half, i am a lil shocked, got no higher then
that but it was still weird, is this normal??
btw coolant is fine and full and what not
not a blown gasket or cracked head because it doesnt heat
up enough for that and oil isnt a miliky colour.
Mine down the highway Saturday with an 82deg thermostat, sat about an 1/8 to 1/4 Round town not sure, havnt been out since then. I also have suspected block water galleries.

I was in the passenger seat in my ute on Sunday and we went for a drive and swung past a beach for a perv, we ended up in traffic and my mate who was driving asked if my temp gauge worked?
It was about 28c outside and the temp had only gone up two marks...
Prob why my car uses so much fuel....
If your using heaps of fuel in a stock motor then the sensors probably need changing. Even giving the right foot a bit of work should still see you get around 16L/100.
The temp issue for a car using fuel is if the ECU thinks the motor is stone cold it pumps in the extra fuel.

Mine sits at about 1/8th at 80 +km/h, goes up to 1/4 - 1/3 at speeds below that.
But here is a question...
At the lights my temp gauge will go up to 3/4, then the fan will kick in, goes down to 1/3, fan off, then up to 3/4 and the process repeats for as long as I dont move, is this normal?
It almost seems like there should be another speed for my fan.
Btw I own a vs v6
Completely normal - the temp will rise at lights as there is no airflow thru the radiator....will rise to 1/2 or 3/4 and fan will kick in and temp will drop to 'normal'.....once the car starts moving again, airflow is restored thru the radiator and there is no need for the fan. All modern cars use this system as it saves energy etc.
In my opinion, the only time to get worried is when the temp gauge goes above 3/4 and into the red which indicates that the engine is overheating (you will also hear a warning "chime" if this happens). This only happened to me once when the water pump froze solid. In the last 8 years, apart from a split in the radiator side tank, that has been the only cooling problem I've had.

Mine sits a bit under 1/4 when driving around and goes up to 1/2 when sitting in traffic, fan kicks in and drops it down to between 1/2 and 1/4.

I need some statesman/ calais woodgrain for drivers side panel!!
K, thanks for the answer, now I do not have to worry.
Was not entirely sure if it was meant to heat up to 3/4, cause most cars I've had in the past usually just have the fan kick in at a certain temp, like 1/4 then just stay on and keep it that exact temp without the cycling up and down as such
