Default Vr v6 cat converter mod NO HATERS

Hey guy, I'm thinking about hollowing out my cat converter and was wondering if the exhaust note would change, whether I get more flow or do the Buick v6 need the back pressure from the cat...

    NO HATERS cheers

Assuming your ride is otherwise fairly stock just leave it as it is. Apart from stating the obvious legalities of what you're proposing, it'll sound horrid and very raspy with a v6. If you're really trying to chase every last KW then fit a higher flowing legal cat, say 300cspi with a free-flowing system.

Even high flow cats make it sound bad unfortunately. It's only a 6

At Summernats this year we did it to a car (not saying who it is or what car), But I can say it was a LS1, Anyway, got it dyno'd, that night gutted the cats (were going to replace them soon after with highflows), immediately it sounded tinnier, then took it back to the dyno and it was 5hp down...

My exhaust sounded shocking and it was due to the cat being hollowed out.... I replaced it with a new one and its sounded better.

    Don't bother.....

Doesnt sound too bad on a 5L if it has good mufflers, but any v6 sound terrible with emptied cats.
Hit me up with some reputation points if i've helped you out! (Star in the bottom left!) Cheers!

my vp v6 sound horrible with a gutted cat, even being manual it still sounded shit, i put a stock cat on it and it sounded much better.
If you're not driving a manual, you are only steering, not driving
