A 4HDD can only be replaced with a 4HDD, it's only the 5-6-7HDD that will retro fit with each other!
We have a 4HDD with 174,000 genuine k in stock but they are generally hard to find in good condition, it all comes down to how much you want to spend!

A tranny specialist told me that it is a a 4HD tranny (with a 13 pin plug 1 solenoid for overdrive and 1 solenoid for TC lockup), not a 4HDD (with a 12 pin plug 1 solenoid for overdrive an TC lockup combined), all the wreckers are telling me differentlly some know about that and others don't. If i put a 12 pin 4HDD in my TC won't lock up. The only other optionseems to bea vn-vp vaccum tranny or a manual but it's a bit of mucking around.

I'm not sure what to do!!!!

First thing I'd do is check for yourself, look at the bellhousing behind the LH head, there should be a sticker there designating what transmission it is, failing that the code is stamped on the trans body RH side just above the sump, can be hard to see without a hoist though.
I have only 2 listings for VR V6 Ute & they're both 4HDD (floor shift).
