hey just want to know what boss kit to get for the commy ty
What steering wheel are you fitting?
sca wood grain steering wheel 350mm
I would assume most boss kits would fit as they have multiple sets of patterns to suit most wheels, just get the model right. Check with your local Supercheap first.
Also do you have an airbag?
Here's a link to a basic boss kit that SHOULD (can't promise) fit. Don't expect it to be the best but it's probably suitable for that wheel.

nah no air bag thanks mate. you know alot of shit about cars man haha
You do know it's illegal?

whats illegal??
nah no air bag thanks mate. you know alot of shit about cars man hahaI think he means if you do have an air bag it will be illegal to change the wheel but the way I read your post was that you don't have an airbag. So far as I know there is nothing illegal about swapping the wheel in this case. You do know it's illegal?
And nah I don't know that much, just lucky that I've done the same things to my car as you're asking about lol
my car is stock without air bag
I thought wood wheels were now illegal as they splinter in a severe crash.
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
The steering wheel it's self is probably illegal for a start. Also try think logically. Would you want your head hitting that wheel or the stock wheel with at least a little bit of padding in the case of an accident?

If you had properly working seat beat you shouldn't hit your head.

Hm I see. But is the wheel actually wood or just made to look like it? Wouldn't it say on the box if it's ADR compliant and if so wouldn't that make it legal?
says classic wood and chrome look..... and is adr approved SCA Steering Wheel - 350mm, Wood - Supercheap Auto Australia
Just keep the box saying ADR approved. It will be one of the obvious things to target if you get pulled over.

You'll be fine, I doubt it's real wood, and it's ADR approved so I don't see there being any problems.
The eBay link I gave you before was for an SAAS boss kit, the exact same as you get from SCA and the same price, except the eBay one has free postage where as I doubt SCA will. That's only if you want to buy it online.
I'm pretty damn certain that boss kit will fit as it is what SCA stock, and fits basically all aftermarket steering wheels. But the reason I didn't link you to the SCA one is it says SAAS but has a picture of a Calibre one and I didn't want to confuse you.
When you go to change the wheel, don't bang on the wheel as you could break the collapseable steering column which is made of glass and designed to collapse if you hit it in an accident. $$$ and a lot of hassle to replace. You might also find the boss kit doesn't have anywhere for the earth. With mine I bent the connector to make it wider and pushed it into a hole inside the boss kit, then used silicone to glue it in place.
Also, at first just use a couple of screws and drive slowly back and forth somewhere straight like your driveway to try and get the steering wheel almost perfect. If you want it absolutely perfect you'll probably need a wheel alignment, but I didn't bother as it's so close you really don't notice very much.
Give us a yell if you get stuck or have any more questions
would a mechanic be able to put it in???
Yeah, but a suspension or wheel alignment place might be a better option. It's not super difficult though. Just don't bang on the column and you should be able to do it yourself.

aite cool thanks guys gonna ask jax tyres monday, i would rather have someone do it then me brake something you know and knowing me i will end up braking something :P haha
its pretty easy to swap, ive got the same wood steering wheel on my vs, its not illegal mine passed rego.
as for installing it, put the wheel on th boss kit first as its easier to put on straight than taking the boss
on and off because the holes on it dont line up with the steering wheel, then take the cover off the old steering wheel
should be 2 screws i think, then its a 19mm nut i think im prob wrong take it off then yank the crap out of the
wheel to get it off if your lucky it will come straight off if not get a bar and hammer and hit the collum, wont damage it
cause its not the type of collum that collapses in a crash, hopefully hitting it should shock it loose, if not keep
pulling it will come off.dont worry about the horn wiring the horn button with the new wheel will plug straight onto the terminal
on the inside of the boss and onced the button is in the wheel it will earth and work, spent twenty minutes figuring that one out.
the wheel will look realy good, but wait till the sun is behind you for the glare off the crome and when your hands get a bit
sweaty and start to slip all over the wheel. but they look good.
hope this helps.
I think it's illegal to have a metal centered steering wheel if it didn't have it factory but who cares.
Also leave the main nut on a few threads so when the wheel finally comes off it won't come at your face lol.
went to the mechanic today and he told me $20 to install it so $160 all up im happy![]()
Ah well, for $20 you can't complain, it seems like a good deal. Just be sure to test the horn, ensure it's straight, and ask about the ground wire before you pay.
