Default HM Headers feedback for VS V6

    Hi

To those members that have installed HM Headers stainless steel on basically a stock engine VS V6 with mild mods such as:
    • CATback sports exhaust
    • cold air intake
    • manifold insulator

Was there any of the following after installing the HM Headers compared to the stock headers:
    1. Improved acceleration off the mark or loss of acceleration
    2. Improved acceleration through the rev range say 1000rpm to 4000rpm band
    3. Less throttle required
    4. Better fuel economy, no change
    5. Increased in cabin noise from the headers

Does anyone have a dyno run for the VS V6 for the HM Headers or able to provide a link to the it?

I thought they were mild mods, maybe I am wrong.

I thought adding of other mods to the engine such as high ratio rockers, throttle body, plenum spacer, modded chip, cam, porting heads, supercharging etc were the mods that stepped up those I mentioned beyond mild.

Anyway any feedback from others regarding installing headers even on a stock system.

They are mild indeed mods. Anything integral within the engine itself are beyond that. I noticed all the above on the positive side of things when I did it to my LS1 when I had it. Bare in mind that I had mine done through D&T perfomance where they installed a in-house Dyno proven system with full computer edit on the Dyno afterwards. So if you go and wack on any ol performance parts, you MAY find negatives in performance.

The headers improve off-idle performance. But you want to choose the right sizes. I think 1.25" mains are the norm and are good for the low to midrange revs. If you go to 1.75 primaries then you'll have to add the exhaust to suit...ie larger and you will lose off idle response but pick up big in the upper rev range.

If you want efficiency, then the 1.25" primaries headers, twin standard cats or single Hiflo cat to single 2.5" exhaust, magnaflo muffler and ressie depending on sound preference.

That exhaust, larger throttle body and larger diametre cold air intake, high ratio roller rockers and a Dyno tune will have you boogying, expecially if you have a manual...!!!

I've run hm headers for about 6 years, they are fantastic! Eco is bout the same if not a smig more. U can hear the exhaust gas pulses more in the cabin. U can feel the overall performance is up across the whole rev range.

Did u end up getting the headers being a 4month old thread?
