Well my starter motor just sh*t itself haha so maybe that was the problem ..
Bump, replaced starter motor today.. Thought that might of been the fix to the problem. Still does the same thing!! Key does nothing but turn on the accessories. Walk away for 15 mins, come back and she starts first go. I even changed the battery just for the hell of it.
Thinking to get a new key, see if that'll work. Or next step replace the battery terminals and cables.. Which seems like a bitch of a job to do.. Has anyone ever replaced their battery cables and such?? If so is it a pain to do.
Have you checked the earths?
Is there a starter motor relay on the vs fuse boxes?? Have u tried swapping the relay over? It may be a faulty relay

diffinatly think its earthing mate. it might be worth just to have a good, look and fiddle with all the earthing comin from the negative terminal
Hey mate,
Oh Boy! reading this made me think of the problem I had.... Completely random and did it at the worst times...
It did it to me once 200km out of town in the middle of no where at work... my brother and I towed the car all the way back home, he looked at it for 2 days and couldnt find a thing wrong called up his auto electy mate to have a look, and bam! car started! not a problem for a while! then randomly at petrol stations and other places it stopped...
then it came back and wouldnt start at all..
Thought it was the key... Replaced that... nope didnt work
LONG story short! I found the F#&ing problem...
We Did a 'Pin out' on the back of the ECU (Basically grabbed the repair manual I have and checked the voltages on the back of the ECU to make sure they were all correct)
I dont have my manual with me atm, but I pretty sure the numbers were A2 and B2 which were ECU memory voltage, was meant to be a constant 12V and I had 3V there..
When I found this out I ran a new cable and BAM car hasnt missed a beat...
I Took it into to get looked at anny way and auto electy said there must be a small break in the wire and just touches now and then, because when he checked it the wire i disconnected had 12V there again...
Soooo Very annoying!!! I Hope this helps, hard to find and you need to do it when it stops working but a simple check with a multimeter!
oh forgot to say...
my brothers auto electy mate got there and said 'ok turn the key and show me what it is doing'
Brother turned the key and it started...
auto electy mate 'well it looks like my job here is done'
i doubt it has anything to do with the key or the battery leads if it starts after 15min but its still a good idea to to upgrade your leads the factory terminals and wires are crap at best you dont need to replace the leads just replace the terminals with some that will take more connections add 2 earths using 4gauge wire connect one to the engine block and one to the body then using 4 gauge again for the positive conect it to the terminal and the other end to your alternator you should notice more than a few improvments in various electric components
I think it might be inside the coil pack if there is any sort of build up in there or bad contacts it may play up
Sounds like the exact same issue I had with the clubby. Would have lights etc but go to start it and click nothing. Walk off, try again 5 mins later and she'd start. Assumed it was the starter motor on its way out so replaced that. Next day click... nothing. Had run outta ideas with what it could be so got the auto elec out and it was a faulty earth wire on the front of the engine. Mind you, he didnt fix it properly, had to get the wire replaced a week later >.<
see my thread - "mystery electric problem - soved" this sounds just like what happened to me, but i was 700km from home when it started....
another problem ive had with mine every now and then is the little metal tab you see on the keys right next to the actual key itsself doesnt make contact with the metal ring on the ignition mine does this atleast once a day just wiggle it and it kicks over cheaper then new keys dont know if it helps works with mine though
