Default v8 engine rebuilding problems with pistons

hey a while ago i had a problem with me radiator that leaked into me air intake.
and started to splatter and carry on which i mentioned a while ago
since then now ive decided a couple months ago to pull the motor out
freshend up me engine bay. and re painted it which dont matter to this subject.
just last few weeks decided to pull the motor apart
had alot of glazing in cylinders 3 and 5 from the water and have rehoned the motor but doesnt apear that it is going to seal up.
so now ive decided to lose the virgin bore and rebore the block.
problem i am having now is that me block has been decked from the standard compression to 10.5 with the standard pistons
and when getting prices atm on new pistons for it.
Every one seems to be telling me in the stores that the pistons have to be custom made to the standard acl 8.5:1 compression and the prices at the moment are becoiming a bit of a joke.
Me mate has a set of 308 40thos but apparently they cant be used which doesnt bother me.
has any one come across this befor that the pistons have to be custom made for stock pistons at 40tho

I don't see anything in here about it, ACL Race Series - Holden 5.0L V8 Performance Engine Parts , but thats the ACL Race series stuff.

Shoot these guys an email, Performance Wholesale Australia - Australia's largest stockist of race parts , they seem to know a fair bit, also there prices are very good, also local pickup for us Brisbane guys.

As far as I know you can get stock pistons from Holden up to 40thou, but what it sounds like is that your wanting to drop the comp back to normalish levels, to do that you'll have to get some pistons with a massive dish.

    Engine Compression Ratio (CR) Calculator

That link might help you, if you know what the engine details are like deck height, head gasket thickness, head cc etc. you also need to change it to stock stroke and rod length I think, then you can just put in how much dish for the pistons to get a rough idea. Then see if you can get them off the shelf, hope that helps.

Na problem i got bud is that i have decked the block to 10.5:1 compression with using the standard acl pistons which are the 8.5:1 dishtop pistons.
with running standard replacement pistons me compression will still be at 10.5:1 sorta regret doing the decking of the block
telling up some options at the moment and leaving the luxo bardge to begining of the yr.
Pay redgo in november again and let it sit to early in the year.
Atm i am toying up the idea on the 355 stroker kit atm which i can get looking in to it with the 8.5:1 pistons or thinking about another block and starting again all the small things done to my block can be done again which isnt that much of a big problem.
just some time with the die grinder again and re doing the oil drain wholes intop of the valley so the oil can return back to the sump eaiser.
want it done right this time i have me cam but that is in question. on if i decide to still run it or not going for the 355 might let me decide to step me cam up a notch but only a small bit currently runing a 232 duration at 50 tho which they recomend i run me 36 pound injectors 2 suit which havent been put in yet cause of manifold issues so more than likey thinking of saving up some coin getting the manifold and put me injectors in get me flash tune done then finaly get the exhaust done to match from the extractors then get it on the dyno
