The only time I washed my VS Calais V8 engine with a pressure sprayer I had the same problem. Turned out to be the coil - suggest you replace yours. Best done on a cold engine - which should not be a problem in your case !!!

Best way is to remove the engine covers, tie back the heater hoses and place some foam or cushions on top of the engine and the front of the car. Lie across the top of the engine so that you can see what you are doing with the coil. If you are tall and thin you might be able to fit between the bonnet and the hydraulic bonnet support and achieve the same result.

how long were u cranking it for to see if it would start? if it was a while the lifters could have bled down. or maybe the oil pump wont prime, if the oil light wont go out after startup that would be your problem id say

in that case id unbolt the end bit on the oil pump where the filter screws on, take the gears out, pack them with vaseline and reassemble. that should restore oil pressure

You should be using a Bosch MEC718 coil.

yh ive bought 1 now, i only checked with the 1from the 308 2see if it was making a spark..i havnt started it yet thoe because its been making that noies, i searched abit on here and it deffantly sounds like the lifters have bled.. but as the engine was fine before i washed it,and the reason theres no oil in the lifters because i was trying to start it 2much, will i need 2flush the oil and replace with new with some of that nylon lifter stuff?? ..or is it just a case of letting it run for abit till its warm? (i dont wana just try it incase i mess them up because i no they have a hefty price tag!)

the lifters can take a while to pressurize again after they have bled down, maybe start it and up the revs a little bit to get more oil pressure up, if u really wanted to putting some lifter free in there then changing the oil after they come good wouldn't hurt but its not necessary

Unhappy Vs Dead after engine wash

Christmas Day disaster. My coil packed it in at the car wash, when my stupid other half thought he'd wash my engine. Engine was cool, cos only 2 mins down the road from wash. Tow truck later, to bring her home. Yesterday I changed my ignition module over with a friends and still no joy so secondary, is coil. No spark at coil. I pulled the coil out last night, and what a shit of a job, but she's out. It has fine cracks running between the bolt holes on both sides of it. So I'm hoping this is my problem.... Will have to ring the holden dealer when they open. Dam Christmas holidays....
