Default No Spark VR V8 :/

So today on the weekend I notice my car was running rough, so this morning I decided to do a bit of self diagnosis so I started to unplug the injectors 1 by 1 and replacing the plug back on them as I went if the idle dropped obviously meaning they were fine.

Turns out my car runs the same with 3 injectors unclipped??? So I decided to replace the fuel rail with another which has injectors that are fine and now for some stupid reason I have no spark!

I checked all the fuses, switched over relays, replaced the coil pack and even the Ignition module and still nothing?

I have obviously bumped something in the engine bay but IBF if I can figure out what

Any idea as to what I should be looking at next (besides a new car)

    Coil pack on a 5.0L?

So it cranks but no spark?

Did you knock the plug off on the dizzy when you pulled the fuel rail out?

Sorry, I meant the Ignition Coil

But whats weird is when I earth out a test light and touch the + on the coil the light comes on (normal) but it also lights up when I touch the - terminal also, I wouldn't have thought this would happen.

The positive and negative on the coil are mainly for identification, not actually positive and negative. One wire comes from the ignition side to the positive, the other from the distributor to the negative. This is a trigger wire that tells the coil when to fire, not really a negative or ground, so it will still have power as it is connected through the primary coil to the positive side. I'd be checking to make sure that wire is still attached to the distributor.

Ok, I'll have another look but from memory they just head straight back into the loom and I thought it pulls its ground/trigger from the ECU?

Im not getting any pulse at he injectors either?

I just hope its not the Hall Effect Sensor....Prick to change...

If you're not getting any injector pulse, did you blow the main engine fuse?

I reckon a plug has come off or is loose. Nothing can really break or fail by just replacing a fuel rail.

Yeah I removed and replaced he HES plug, but like you said I recon I have just bumped something or moved and earth over a dirty part of the car causing dodgy contacts...

Just called my mechanic and his exact words were "STOP FARKING TOUCHING YOUR UTE!" and I couldn't agree more

Well I went out this morning to install a spare wiring harness in case I has a split wire somewhere and before I committed the the daunting task I decided to kick it in the guts to see if it had enough charge and if not id place it on a charger while im rewiring it all......And it started ???

Maybe it was the immobilizer ???

The only issue I have now is I have a really loud lifter noise? Not sure if that has to do with the fact I was cranking and cranking with with out the pump producing oil pressure or what? Not sure if it will go away either?

The noise should go away after its warmed up, Cranking it constantly bleeds the lifters .. Had similar problem
