Default Weird buoy thing near left front wheel?

Anybody have an idea of what a little buoy type thing is doing near my front left wheel?
Sometimes if I reverse, and full lock, it touches my wheel and makes a grinding sorta sound :/

Its the vtec base plate that regulates the nos boost controller float valve when the intake pressure reaches 900 cfm it opens to let extra air into your cd player to keep it cool and to stop you from blowing a tranny, better get it looked at quick smart.

In all seriousness tho, i have no idea. Perhaps a photo?

    Yep, what he said.

You plug your vacuum into it when you're cleaning the interior of your car.

    vacuum reservoir mate
Normally they are broken so you prob should be able to push it out the way of the wheel.. You shouldn't notice it when you have the inner wheel gaurd in anyways?

Don't see how it could be hitting your wheel. Should be guards in the wheel arch, even without them it really shouldn't be close.
I think it's basically "reserve" vacuum for the air con system?? So when the cars under heavy load it doesn't affect the aircon/ engine performance?? Can someone confirm?

im pretty sure its mainly for the interior fan direction switch and brake booster, when you turn the car off you can press the brake pedal a couple times then it goes real hard and same for the fan direction switch you can change it a few times and hear the hissing then it stops.

The brake booster will hold its own reserve of vacuum, enough for about 2 brake applications, then once this reserve vacuum is depleted, the brake pedal becomes harder to press in as theres no longer any vacuum assist.
The vacuum reserve tank under the passenger side front guard is there to stop the heater controls from shifting positions when the car is under load going uphill or when accelerating heavily. This is because the interior heater position control flaps, and the heater tap, are all controlled by vacuum thats ported from the engines intake manifold, so its got a vacuum reserve tank there for when the vacuum gets low in the intake manifold. Otherwise the heater flaps and heater tap would be constantly changing positions whenever the vacuum level drops in the engine...Ive seen this happen before with these cars, they get a vacuum leak somewhere, this leak causes the vacuum level to drop quicker than it normally would when the car is under load etc, which then causes the heater controls to shift from either the face or windscreen demist position, to the floor position when accelerating heavily or when going up long steep hills etc. Then it will change back again to its original position once the vacuum has built back up strong enough to move the heater flaps back again.

Yeah, well it's definitely the vacuum reservior. I'd assume the mounts are broken then, because it's literally 10 centimetres away from my tyre. Cheers anyway guys, any idea on how to fix/ how much it'd cost?

Their are two vacuum lines that come out of this tank, one goes into the firewall, where is the other one suppose to go?

I have just had a look at my VS and Ive only got one hose that comes from the vacuum reservoir (theres only 1 hose connector on the vacuum reservoir), this hose goes to the rear of the engine where it splits into 2 seperarate lines with a t-piece,one goes to the inlet manifold ( vacuum supply for the system), and the other goes in through the firewall. Theres a one way check valve on the vacuum line that T's off to the inlet manifold. I also noticed that the windscreen washer hose looks very similar to the vacuum hose, and they both run together along the passenger side of the car down to the front where the washer fluid reservoir and vacuum reservoir are located...

Oh your a champ! This is great news! What happened was my fuel line split right above my ign coil and started to drop fuel on to and caught fire, (not even a week after I brought it) so I took it back the dealer and asked them to fix it (more like told them to) and ever since I have had this vacuum line with no apparent location, they have fixed the line from the manifold to firewall but not put a t-piece back in it, and now every time under load my climate heads to my feet :/ hope this fixes it

What side of the one way valve do I put the t-piece in?

well i think it should go on the manifold side of the t-piece otherwise either the vaccum tank will store the vac pressure and not be able to release or the otherside going into your firewall would give you the same problem and the vac tank would depressurise every time you turn your car off. IMO and i could be wrong

Mine ended up falling off. Got a new one and tried to push it back on, it holds, but I still only get hot air out of the bottom of my footwells :/

Yeah mate, I think so, can oust air thru fire wall, but not back thru into manifold

Yeah got it the right way then, cheers, brought all new vac lines and a new owv today, was going to change it all over this afternoon, but got rained out, when I'm changing the vac lines over I'm going to pop the vac tank out and pressure test it, I'll see how that goes, if still fail, then I'm buggered if I know

Okay so all vacuum lines have been replaced, took vacuum tank out and inspected for cracks and holes, none. But still doing its feet under load sh!t, have put four actuators in it, (all second hand) all do the same thing, is it possible to get the actuators brand new still? Does anybody have a spare known working ones that I could purchase or at least use to test my system?
