Hi Guys,
Some class act decided it would be a good thing to bash in my front window of the ute one evening and I've finally gotten around to repairing it. I'm just about to fit the glass but can't think of anyway to get the window regulator clips fitting into the channels on the replacement windows.
I've done a BMW318i electric replacement and just remembered they had a replaceable plastic clip that you fitted to the channel then pressed onto the window regulator.
Is this a similar system as it seems that once the window is in the door channel that you can't maneuver into any position to get both plastic clips in?
google search brings up lots about power windows in VR's but nothing for the low tech option.
Thanks
Mark
Yeah its pretty easy, I did this to my Ute yesterday.
One of the rubbers had snapped of half way up and when the window was wound up from all the way down , it would run between the outside of the rubber channel and the metal rail causing it to jam and then eventually pop the regulator of the slider....
Anyways, You just slide your window in then place the window winder back on and wind it up or down to an area where you can pop the right hand side slider on first.... Once that's on, you just level the window with your left hand from underneath the window and wind the window up or down, which ever way untill it lines up and squeeze the window and regulator together with your palm on one side and your finders on the other...
Hope this helps
I'm a bit unclear..are you saying I don't need to get the clips or I do need to buy new ones and then use your method of popping the window together?
Sorry, I went on a bit of a tangent and forgot to help with that one![]()
The clips should just slip in and out, nothing by rights should be stopping them from slipping out if the regulator isn't clipped into them... So use the plastic sliders from the old window....
Do you have the old sliders still?
Yep,
the window was completely smashed and in a million pieces, the window channels just slipped off the regulator so all the little clips etc are intact.
The replacement window had the channels already so I'm hoping to know the method to slip the whole thing in complete.
So as it's a bit confusing the clips are on the regulator/winder mechanism not in the window channels. :-)
I am almost there..
Got the regulator clips off, window in now what is the best way to pop the regulator back into the clip?
Just don't want to break the window while trying to squeeze the two things together.
Cheers
