I need advice, I have a VS ute and yesterday I was doing a 3 point turn and as I took off I thought I saw some pieces of rubber come flying out the back of me, I then noticed once I had stopped that I had a bad vibration in the front end that came through the steering wheel as well, but it only seemed to do this while at idle because as soon as I started to take off the vibration seemed to disappear?,
I know this doesn't tell you much but I thought I would throw it out there before going to a mechanic.Any ideas?
Vibration could be engine mounts. But no idea why they would come off during a three point turn.
Check ur steering rack for boots. I'm unsure though
Lift your bonnet look down at the harmonic balancer. Is there huge pieces of rubber missing? When you were doing your three point turn it would have put more pressure on your belt which in turn would have place more then usual stress on the harmonic balancer which would cause the rubber to break lose (rubber becomes brittle when old).
Well thats what i would check anyways.

I'd agree with getadeal ....harmonic balancer.

could be harmonic balancer but id check other stuff aswell like exhaust rubber mounts cause if some break off randomly then obviously the exhaust vibrates massively then shakes the whole car which will stop as u take off.. so just go around and check everything under and above your car may take you a hour or more but could save you alot of money... might be something simple you could fix yourself
It sounds like the harmonic balancer to me too.

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
Thanks for all your help, I don't honestly know what I would do without your help so thanks again....
So what did it end up being Ianf?
