gday fellas just wondering if anyone can help, 94 vr 135ks good nick, but going through water and i can understand where its going, interior carpet not wet, radiator done 20k ago, no leaks from welsh plugs, no leaks from any of the water hoses. car doesnt get hot, and when i check the oil from the dip stick, there is no evidence of any water...although every now and again i can feel a little miss even at idle. any ideas
Are you filling the radiator up or just the bottle?
You should remove the radiator cap when its cold, and then turn the car on, fill up the radiator with fluid and then give it a blip or two....Then top it up agan if needed then place the cap back on and then give the top hose a squeeze to see if you have an air lock...
Replace your radiator cap, its very common to loose water slowly espcally not to the ground when your radiator cap wears out,
Check little nooks and crannies on the engine for that dried coolant residue, could be coming out the back of the heater tap I know mine does if I give it some with the tap open, or on the top of the water pump on the heater hoses, it may leak out and pool back towards the engine and dry where you won't notice it. Even on the bottom radiator hose it may be weeping and sitting in the top edge, depends how fast you lose it.
Mine was losing coolant just last week. Had the system pressure tested and they found a slight drip at the heater hoses where they leave the engine bay at the firewall. 1/4 turn on the clamp and all was good.
thanks for the replies
304runner...just filling the bottle radiator always full
noddys vp....radiator cap new
t-rex no residue to be found anywhere, but will look again
vs50 i will check that as well
thanks again
It is possibly that the inlet manifold gasket is leaking into the front cylinders(its close to the inlets there) but more then likeley there is a small weep somwhere causing your issues. It does sound terribly like you have a miniscule weep somwhere causing your issues. If you have a miniscule weep, it will cause the issue your havin.
Couldn't see my leak at the heater hose either. Pressure test is the way to go. Good luck with it.
