Default Cleaning vs Replacing Injectors (VR)

I'm fairly certain my injectors are blocked, getting terrible fuel economy (about 300km/tank) so I've ordered an oxygen sensor but I'm fairly certain my injectors are also quite clogged as I can constantly hear a spraying noise. Was doing a search through the forums and noticed that most people elect to pay others to clean their injectors for them. The consensus was that this costs about $250 to do. Wondering why people don't just take them out themselves give them a quick clean or even replace them themselves?

    I found these:

HOLDEN COMMODORE NEW FUEL INJECTORS VN VP VR VS VT VX + | eBay

Is there something questionable about replacing them yourself? Am I missing something?

replacing them yourself is fine but not cleaning them, the process they use completely cleans the injector of all residue and they also some times replace the pintle cap if they are broken. just cleaning them by flushing a bit of fuel through them or what ever is not the way to go and will probably do more harm then good. so just get them professionally cleaned or go for the new ones up to you.

fair enough, I guess the question then is why would people pay $250 to clean their old ones when they can get a new set for $160 as above? Is there something questionable about the link I posted? Should I avoid them?

those one in the link look fine, they are cheap because they are not genuine items
i guess for many people it's easier to get the injectors cleaned then have to buy new ones, also some people don't even know that you can get replacements for prices like that.

Yeah I was in the same boat a while back with a dodgy injector, so I replaced it with a spare I had and figured the others wernt too far behind and would also need replacing. The spare set I had were a bit dodgy too so I priced up a set and then decide don buying this >>> NEW DIGITAL ULTRASONIC CLEANER, 50 WATTS | eBay Money well spent, and the amount of crap I got out of them was scary!

But dont think you can just lob them in and walk away, they need to be hooked up... An easy rig

[EDIT] This is just like what I did http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWfnM...eature=related

I bought and fitted the exact same injectors as the ones in the link above to my commodore VS ecotec. I talked to a few EFI places first about getting my old ones cleaned etc, and a couple of the places said to definitely go with the new ones when I metioned to them that I could get brand new ones for $160, even though they are "cheapie" ones. They said that even when old injectors have been cleaned or remanufactured/reconditioned etc, they will never flow as good as they did when they were new. Also Ive had a couple of mates fit these so called "remanufactured" injectors from ebay, and theres been bugger all difference in how the cars ran etc. So I went with the brand new ones in the link, not really knowing what to expect from them, and so far, they have been excellent, the car starts and runs way better, and it is a lot better on fuel now too. Ive had mine for 6 months now. If I get 2 or 3 years out of them, for $160, Ill be happy with that, especially if they keep giving me the same fuel economy they are currently giving. I will probably have saved the $160 on fuel by then anyway..The guy who sells them got them to me in 2 days, they also come with new o-rings fitted.

    Awesome!

Thanks so much all for the prompt replies. Will definitely get these injectors then Was worried that it would be old stock and the o-rings may have shrunk or become brittle or something, but glad to hear that wont be a problem.

    Thanks again
