    Default standard manual exhaust manifolds

(V6 ecotec)standard manual exhaust manifolds are they any different to the auto ones (drivers side) i know the pacemaker manifolds are, but are the standard ones any different to the auto manifolds??
reason being changing the clutch on my mates vs (t5 gearbox) and i snapped the stud in the exhaust manifold where it mates up with the exhaust pipe would rather just replace it than drill it out and re tap a new stud in
    thanks in advance

the stud (remaining part of) will still be in the head when you remove the manifold... if youve broken it, youre going to have to get it out, or replace the head...

get you hands on an "easy-out" or "screw extractor" (and maybe some freeze spray and a blow torch... refer to later)

Prep the broken off stud by drilling the hole in the middle to suit the easy-out, then once its ready to try to remove, give it a go with the easyout... if it's still too tight...then:

if you have a blow torch, heat the area of the head around it... (this will expand the head around the broken off stud, but not too hot that it glows red... just hot to touch)

then, with the freeze spray, using the straw nozzle, squirt in the hole that you drilled for the easy-out, just for 2-3secs.... (this will shrink the broken stud and hopefully loosen the fit)

    then, quickly, use the easy-out....

    hope that helps...

Nah mate, he means the other end of the manifold, where it joins to the y-piece.

Im pretty sure, with stock manifolds, the auto and manual ones are the same.
