Default T5 VR s2 input shaft

    G'day once again...
Now having problems with my input shaft. My box guy has finished building my box except for the input shaft and bearing retainer.
I have a vr v8 and have a max ellerys repair manual, in there It states that the v6 input rear had a caged bearing as a pose to the v8 that had a 15 roller bearings that had a thrust bearing over the top.
My problem my box guy said my tapered input shaft was stuffed and need a new one. Isn't that a v6 one???
Another was the price, I can get the 15 roller input for $100 from tremec.
His tapered roller bearing input he wants me to pay for costs $550

Another thing is one person says that the tapered bearing input is a stronger
Almost upgrade on the 15 roller input.

The book I have says the v8 is the 15 roller input, tapered is the v6.

Some other people say the 15 roller is an upgrade on the tapered v6 input and replaces the 3.35 gear set to 2.95 and can handle 340-400hp.

I've been stuffing around with this for 2 weeks now and it needs to end. Maybe my description isn't the best but I'm so confused with everything.
Is he trying to rip me off, or do those people have no idea what they are talking about.... Like me... Sort of!!

Can't help you much but the Gregorys shows the input shaft with the 15 roller tapered bearing for the V6....also the T5 is a Borg Warner box - type BTR T5
I wouldn't place too much faith in the Ellery manual - it's famous for mistakes and inconsistencies. Why not contact Borg Warner.
    Good Luck.

    Cheers for that.
You are right in not to trust that book as my car came out with a tapered bearing or caged bearing design, that was very different from the description in the book. Anyways I found one from tremec yesterday, Monday, also the matching bearing retainer. It has also been delivered to my box guy this morning, tuesday who finished the job and delivered the complete box to my engine guy this afternoon. So all is great so far!! Cheers!!
