That's the way they sit, but the front of the exhaust system should have a slight kick up where it joins the cat so the two flanges are parallel. If it isn't leaking, leave it, but if it is leaking, a new gasket will be needed as they do wear out. Although, looking at the black on it, it is leaking. It will leak again unless the alignment issue is rectified.

Try tapping the flange on the left to straighten it up a bit although the cat looks as though it's upside down. You could try undoing it, cleaning it and apply some silicone sealant (yes you can use it) to the joint then tightening it.

The cat is part of the engine pipe assembly, so unless it has been replaced and a different one welded in, it can't be upside down.

Just undo the bolts and reposition the flange on the catback side (it can move!) tighten it up again and you will be all good. Just did this on a mates ecotec the other day

The angle how they meet is wrong, because the bolts have springs on them the flange is designed to move and no amount of repositioning will fix it until the pipes meet squarely.

Hey, it worked on the car i did it on, im not tripping! Take it as u wish tho

Almost all ecotecs with have that unusual angle to the cat side flange. That cat is as they come from factory, so no the cat isnt upside down.

Whats the harm in pulling the bolts out and trying to reposition it. The exhaust side flange can also rotate, so maybe try to spin it around and see if that works better?
