I just purchased a VS Calais which lightly shakes on idle & really shakes when accelerating and has a loss of power. It's no better or worse the warmer it gets. The previous owner thought the bottom end bearing was gone but there's no knock. I just checked all the vacuum pipes, lines, air filter, tranny fluid, engine oil, radiator water, f/pump fuse & reset the ecu but nothing's changed. Any ideas? The airbag light stays on if that makes any difference to the problem.
Maybe the fuel filter?
Fuel filter never entered my mind lol Pretty stupid thing to forget considering the guy lived on a dirt road. The previous owner said he changed the plugs & leads hoping that would solve it, but didn't check the coil packs. OK, I'll start with the fuel filter & see how that goes.
Well the fuel filter is completely sealed so dirt roads won't do anything.
Its more, if he was living in the country running 91 from little independent servos he probably got a couple of bad batches of fuel at one point and the filter got loads of crap through it. (thats what happened to me, and why I never use liberty servo's anymore, was during ACA's blitz on the servos watering down fuel etc.....I got watered down 91 from a rusty fuel tank with rust flakes so big it clogged my fuel filter)
Changed fuel filter, no difference. So going to duck it up to servo, fill the tank up with 98 & run some injector cleaner through it and see what that does
Done & no change. Besides forking out the money for coil packs, any other thoughts?
Maybe you shouldn't have bought it knowing it had a problem? IMO just sell it and get a better one before you fork out heaps chasing an unknown problem...

I need some statesman/ calais woodgrain for drivers side panel!!
sounds like coils to me.
in stead of throwing money at it buying random parts hoping it will solve the problem, get a professional to diagnose the problem and go from there.

apparently wasting my time with 97 cubic inches
milk doesnt come in 1.6 litres
my geminis
When my VS had a miss and lack of power it turned out to be my injectors been clogged with crap, I changed the fuel filter and replaced the filter basket in the injectors and it solved my problem, I still need new injectors though.
In saying this, bad injectors would give the same symptom like it was a bad coil.
At the time I wish I checked the injectors before wasting money on another DFI and Coils
The DFI. That's it lol
