Default 4runner vr v6 engine help

Ok guys im back with a new problem, i thought my ecu was a vp but its actually a vr, I went to get a new remote programmed today and they copied the code to the new remote but it does not work? They said that it may have something to do with the bcm not having a Ariel or something to read the new code?
if anyone can help that would be good because my remotes on its last legs,

The car uses original toyota ignition barrel, i just have a commodore remote head that i have to press before it tricks the security into thinking it will go, The car has the flashing red security light as found in the vr so when i press the remote the light turns of and the car can be started.

If theres not a easy fix maybe i will just have to get this COMMODORE V6 AND V8 ENGINE

The reason why it is not working is because you are not useing the keyhead reader that goes around the ignition barrel (silver metal ring) that is on the VR/VS ignition barrel.

From what I understand is that you unlock the car with the original remote then use the new keyhead to start it. But because you do not have the keyhead reader it will not work.

thanks for the info. so how can i fix it? The bcm simulator would be good you can get them for 325 from v6 conversions in nsw 35 cheaper then marks 4wds, im guessing this would eliminate my problems

Another way is to disable the immobiliser.
Or somehow make a connector that goes around the ignition barrel and find the connection for the keyreader on the BCM last I recall it was a green wire?
So when you go to start it the metal bit on the keyhead makes contact.

Well i just got a call from the locksmith and he said to bring it in tomorrow and he will give it a go. then he proceeded to tell me that if it didn't work he would not refund my 110 to code the unusable key. So i put him in his place and said he was the professional and if he wasn't good enough to do the job he shouldn't have agreed to do it. so i will go and try if he doesn't refund my money i will drive the car through his front door.

You dont have to pay anywhere that much, just to permenantly "fix" your ECU/BCM security system problem. I can do that for you for minimum cost, the only thing is I will need a spare memcal sent as I dont have any spare ones. If your interested, just PM me.

So if you where to do that the i would not need the remote at all? why would marks 4wd and v6 conversions sell that bcm simulator if its as simple as a memcal mod?

    thanks heaps for your help,

Because they are the KING of making you believe you need everything they have in regards to what ever conversion your doing... To do an LS1 conversion on my 4runner would of cost upwards of 10k just in conversion parts from them.. No motor, no box...

I wish I knew as much about the 304 conversion then as I do now. I would have saved thousands.

Yeah true that makes sense, someone did spend alot of money at some stage putting this motor in the 4runner ll those adapters etc cost heaps. I called chip torque on the gold coast and they wanted 495 for the memcal that bypasses the anti theft? i thought holy shit it would want to give out heaadjobs for that sort of money,

As far as I know, all that box does (and I have one in my 4runner) is tricks the ECU into thinking its in a Holden and supply's the car with fuel and spark but talks to the 4runner dash also? (I think)

A terrible thing to hook up yourself as the instructions are evidently wrong which can suck if the engine you have to transplant was bought with out the proof of it running in the first place...

i got an Auto elec mate come out and hook it up correctly, then it after hours of stuffing about we realized the fuel lines were opposite to the Holden in the 4runner in regards to the way they travel fro, the tank to the engine bay ect, then the dizzy was 180....Grrrrrr

marks are a good company in regards to top quality gear, but if your on a budget they wont tell you the backyard mechanics way of doing things for obvious reason.

The slave cylider for example, they wanted a bucket load for one, but I just put bigger sleeve in my old one and welded a longer rod onto the old one. Or a 75 series Landcruiser slave cylinder will do...

I see, yeah thats what i was going to get but if the modded memcal can do it then thats the go for me. my next mission will be getting the speedo going and fitting a reverse rotation engine fan. I also have a locker for the front diff. Nelly time to get muddy,
