    Default Transmission Problem :(

    Hey guys

    I've got a problem with my car. (vs commodore)

    RE-EDITED

    gears are messed up

    park = park
    R = Drive ( i think its full range of gears)
    N = Drive ( i think its full range of gears)
    D = Drive ( i think its full range of gears)

    i'm too afraid to put my foot down or change into 3rd 2nd and 1st incase i do damage to it
    i'm abit worried cause i only got the car not long ago so any help with be greatly appreciated.

    It sounds like the selector arm is loose where it meets the transmission and slipping. I'd jack the car up safely with stands underneath, and then get under the transmission whilst having an assistant move the T bar.....you will see it move and hopefully figure out how to tighten it.

    There are details in the Gregory manual on adjusting the linkage which I can copy for you if you discover it is the linkage.

    hey hako
    thanks for those images.they helped alot.

    doesnt appear to be the selector arm so my only guess is the solaniods.. or even something worse... oh well was worth a try i guess

    a mate has a box i could grab but its from a vx ute?
    so i'm wondering if it will fit. they all use the same 4L60e ??

    Have a look at the attached link - item number 8. - this is what happened to me about 7 years ago although I had reverse for about 10 metres....was driving up the range at Tambourine and trans made a 'click' and changed back to 3rd, stayed there but car seemed stiff - pulled up about 1km further and that was it. $2000 later I had a new trans.
    So I do hope this isn't the case with you. Good Luck.
