Vs Battery Light

When my car is started my battery light is on and sometimes flickers, is this a loose terminal, cause they are dead tight, do i need a better battery or is my altenator screwed?

most likely its your alternator i had the same thing in my old car. you could clean your terminals properly and see if that stops it it could be just there really dirty

The brushes would be on their way out in the alternator. Should be able to replace the regulator and brushes for around $45 new.....

+1 for needing a replacement regulator. The brushes wear down over time.

Dud regulator (this contains the brushes)

Also make sure the B+ terminal is tight and the cable running to it it not burnt at the end.


You really should be 'dressing' (restoring the running surface) the slip rings (the contacts the brushes run on) when replacing the regulator/brushes.
